If you have been to therapy previously this page will be a refresher (if needed). If the therapy process is new to you, here’s a glimpse into the initial steps.
Taking the leap!!! This process while contemplating whether therapy is really needed, and initially entering into the office can be stressful; and sometimes overwhelming. Especially since you’re already in an emotional place where so many of life’s issues may be challenging at this time. So here is the short version of how we begin our journey together.
- You would call me to make an appointment. A brief introduction of your needs, and discussion of financial questions and information will happen at this first encounter. This call will take no longer than 15 minutes. This will be our “getting to know you” chat.
- Next, we will meet for our first session (which will be an intake) on the date and time we’ve agreed upon during our initial call. Sessions will last 50 minutes, however our first meeting will last a little longer. I will schedule you for 70 minutes. This gives us time to complete any paperwork, as well for you to have all your questions answered.
- By the second session, it will be time to really get to work. This will be the beginning of your 50 minute sessions discussing the issues and goals of your choosing. Our time together will be well spent addressing the areas you feel are important, and look for interventions that fit your lifestyle to improve your well-being and peace of mind.
- Therapy can be short term for some, and long term for others. Please try and understand we will always take things at your pace, to help you achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I look forward to chatting with you about your needs, your goals in therapy, and the outcome you’d like to achieve.
